As one of our activities while at The Haven, we got to experience Nile horseback Safaris. Nina, Jasper and I got to meet and ride on three calm and healthy horses. Mine was called Waragi, known to for his zeal to ride and accommodate people.
To get there cross the bridge over Owen falls dam, then turn right at Kayunga road from where it is 5km. You can also take a water taxi from Bujagali dam or a boda for 10,000Ugx from Jinja.
I have always wanted to explore Jinja on a horse, especially to view the Nile River and walk around the villages. The horses felt absolutely safe and made me consider coming back for the overnight safari as this takes you through the tea plantations and other interesting scenery.
Good To Know:
You are required to wear long trousers, closed shoes and there’s a 90kg weight limit. The trip options are at 10 am and 2pm daily and you should call to make a booking ahead.
Trips are 1-3hours and there is no experience required for both beginner and advanced riders.
Have you been horse riding lately? Where is you best place to ride? I’d love to hear all about it 🙂
